The 6 Creepiest Places to Visit in the United States

Whether you’re looking for a creepy place to visit in the United States for Halloween or sometime during the year, this list of the 6 creepiest places to visit in the United States will give some places to choose from. It’s interesting just how many creepy and haunted places there are in the United States alone. It was difficult to narrow the list down to just five, but I succeeded, and so here are the 6 creepiest places to visit in the United States.

The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

This hotel that was built in 1886 is supposedly the home to many ghosts. There have been witnesses who say they say a nurse as well as hands coming out of a mirror at some point during their visit to The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Some guests have even heard unexplained screaming sounds coming from within the walls of this creepy place to visit in the United States.

Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California

Legend says that this mystery house in San Jose, California was built by Sarah Winchester who inherited a large sum of money when her husband died. The home was built to house spirits and visitors will find stairs that lead nowhere as well as windows that look into rooms along with other oddities. This is for sure one of my top recommendations of creepiest places in the United States to visit.

Holy Land USA in Waterbury, Connecticut

Talk about something that looks like it’s straight out of a scary movie, this abandoned theme park was once thriving but it shut down in 1984 and has been left to tarnish. The reason this location is one of the creepiest places to visit in the United States is that you can feel a sinister air around it since 2010 when a 16-year-old boy was murdered here.

The Ellis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia

This hotel was once known as the Winecoff Hotel but back in 1946, there was a tragic hotel fire that diminished the hotel. 119 people died on this site back in 1946, and many guests have shared accounts of seeing ghostly faces in the windows, and have noises in hallways that were empty and tools have been known to rearrange themselves within the walls of The Ellis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mammoth Cave National Park in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky
This national park was once the location where saltpeter was mined, but back in 1842, a doctor used to house tuberculosis patients here under the assumption that cave vapors would cure them. Many people who’ve gone through this cave system, the longest in the world, have heard voices and seen things move on their own within the caves.
These are just 5 of the creepiest places to visit in the United States, the list of creepy places located within the United States could go on for quite a while. There are so many creepy places to find within the United States. I hope that you’ll take some time to check out these 5 creepiest places to visit in the United States someday and share your experiences with me.

Cassadaga Hotel in Cassadaga, Florida
This historic Hotel is HAUNTED – with friendly “Spirits” of course! People from all walks of life come to visit this charming and mysterious Inn. Located in the center of a Spiritualist Community that was established in 1894, and is known for its amazing Energy Vortex and Psychic Mediums. Cassdaga is also home to the Devil’s Chair. The Devil’s Chair is a graveside bench in the cemetery that borders Cassadaga and Lake Helen. According to one local legend, an unopened can of beer left on the chair will be empty by morning. In some accounts, the can is opened, and in others, the beer is simply gone, through the unopened top. The Devil is sometimes said to appear to anyone so bold as to sit in the chair.

I have been to Cassadaga many times and while I think the hotel is creepy, I love visiting the town. On this particular night, we tried to take photos inside the hotel and the cameras on our phones malfunctioned to the point that only one of us was able to take a photo. Go figure, 4 technologically savvy girls having difficulty taking photos. It was strange nonetheless.
