Via Pregnancy

The first way that we are going to look at is via pregnancy. This is considered the ‘standard’ way to bring a new child into your family, but this does not mean it is the only way, or the best way. However, having a baby this way mixes you and your partners DNA together to create a new little life that it half you and half them. When you find out you are pregnant, it can be a whirlwind of emotion, and you need to keep in mind that your body is going to go through a lot of changes. Preparing for this can be tough, but it can be done with careful planning.

You might want to think about using something such as Bloomlife to help you track your pregnancy. Seeing how your baby is growing, what stage they are at and so on can be a wonderful experience for you and your family. It also helps you countdown to when you are going to meet your new member, which is always going to be exciting!

Via Fostering

The next way we are going to look at is through fostering. While this is not typically a permanent member of your family, they are still part of you while they stay, for however long that may be. Fostering is usually for children whose parents are unable to look after them any longer and children’s services is trying to find a temporary family for them. These children have often been through some sort of trauma, so it is important that you are accepting and love them as though they were your own children.

We know that most families who foster children do this anyway, but it is worth point it out as a reminder. There is nothing more that you can do for one of these children than giving them somewhere safe and loving to stay while their parents work their caseplan or they find an adoptive placement.  It can be a hard task because usually, they will have to go away at some point, but you know that you gave them something that they needed, which makes it worth it every single time.

Via Adoption

Adoption is a process where you bring a new child into your home on a permanent basis, and make them a member of your family forever.  This may be through foster care or private adoption but it is a hard process, make no mistake.  It is not a simple case of finding a child that you love and having them become your son or daughter. It can take months or years, countless home inspections, background checks, interviews and so on. However, when you find the child that you love with your whole heart, this entire process seems like nothing in comparison to the love and joy that they will bring to your life.

Adoption is not for everyone, but for those who it works for it is a wonderful process that gives a child without a family a fresh start in life. Many children who end up in the system have had a tough time in life with their parents being gone, passed away, not able to look after them and so on. You find a lot of the time that older children are still attached to their parents which is understandable, but that doesn’t mean you love them any less. Giving them a new life is usually what they need, and you end up needing them just as much.

Loving Them No Less

No matter what way a new child enters your family, you never love them any less. When you make a bond with someone, it doesn’t matter whether they have your DNA or not, they are your child in heart and soul. Whichever way suits your family best is what you should do, but you should never feel pressured to go one way or another. Always consider your family first, and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
