Whether your ultimate goal is to fit into that new dress you bought from the store or to shed a few pounds for any prevailing health issues, there are a few things you need to consider when trying to lose weight.
Take a look at the following and relate them to your life to ensure success with your weight goals.
#1: Can you go it alone?
Do you have the willpower to eat a healthier diet? Do you know what foods you need to eat and avoid? Are you able to stick to a regular exercise plan?
If you have answered yes to the above, then fine. However, if you know that going it alone could be difficult for you, then it is important to find support. So, you might ask your family to help you with your plans, perhaps by enlisting them all on your healthy eating plan so you can all spur each other on. You might want to consider a physician-guided weight loss program if you need professional help going forward. And instead of exercising alone, you might want to enlist your friends and family members, as their companionship might give you the incentive to exercise more, especially on those days when you don’t want to move from the sofa.
#2: What will you enjoy?
Losing weight isn’t easy, but it can be easier if you find enjoyment in what you are doing.
So, when it comes to what you eat, don’t force yourself to eat too many salads if you aren’t usually partial to greens. Consider the diet plan you intend to follow, and then look for those foods and recipes that you will actually enjoy eating. Here are 31 days of Keto recipes, for example, if you intend to follow the Keto diet.
And apply the same to your exercise plans. So, if going to the gym fills you with dread, and if a jog around the park isn’t for you, then think about those activities that you might enjoy. You might consider joining a dance class, for example, or you might want to swim or cycle ride. You could spend more time with your family too, perhaps by enlisting them for fun physical activities at the weekend, such as a bike ride together, or by playing games in the garden. #3: What is likely to prevent you from reaching your goals?
You have goals in mind, but if there is anything guaranteed to sabotage your weight-loss plans, you need to take steps to safeguard yourself.
So, if your TV lures you away from exercise, try to find fun things to do outdoors. Or, at the very least, purchase some exercise equipment that you can use while watching the telly.
If your boss treats the office to staff lunches, consider opting out if he or she only orders in unhealthier options.
And if there are any tempting bakeries on your route to work, consider taking a different route instead. This way, the alluring sights and smells of the bakery won’t tempt you in.
If an evening treat is your downfall, plan some low calorie alternatives that will leave you satisfied while still sticking to your goals. For example you could make a healthy ‘trifle’ with fruit suspended in sugar free jelly with some vanilla yoghurt on top. Washed down with some Jordan’s skinny syrups for a tasty drink instead of regular pop or alcohol will reduce your calories too.
Consider the same for any weight-loss defeating factors in your life, and think of a way to minimize them.
We wish you every success with your weight-loss plans!
